Classic Set Revamp
For classic set revamp, we were given five different pre-existing movie sets to choose from. We had to carefully consider what we could use the architectural elements for and how to re-dress the set.
I chose the main barbershop set from the 2007 Sweeney Todd film. I thought the extreme angle of the ceiling, as well as the large window provided interesting opportunities for decoration and lighting.
For the brief, I focused on designing the set for a character, rather than a purpose. I wanted to make a film/show about The Green Man, an ancient pagan spirit who has survived into the present and is now living in Bristol.
I chose to set my production in the present, and to transform the set into a more modernized industrial studio flat. I wanted the flat to be very overgrown with plants to represent The Green Man’s influence, as well as being filled with art that he had made and collected over the years.
